Event Description
Because Mobility is Priceless, Non-Profits and Civic Leaders Have Joined Together to Launch Austin’s First CAR FREE Day During Mobility Week
Car Free Happy Hour: Sept 20 from 5:30pm-8:00pm at Tacos-N-Tequila (TNT), 507 Pressler Street, Austin. The Alliance for Public Transportation is hosting a casual event with free appetizers and happy hour prices on adult beverages. Tacos-N-Tequila will be donating 20% of sales during this Happy Hour to the Alliance for Public Transportation for future grassroots & educational events.
Supporting Organizations Include: Active Life, AISD, Alliance for Public Transportation, America Walks , Bike Austin, CapMetro, Car2Go, City of Austin, CNU Central Texas, Commute Solutions, GetAround, Health 2.0 Austin , Movability Austin, Please be Kind to Cyclists, Zipcar.
Background: Car Free Day started in 2000 and has become an international event with 1,500 cities in 40 countries participating. Car Free Day is a simple concept: people simply pledge to leave their car at home for the day and travel using the train, bus, bicycle, foot, wheelchair or any other option to get to play, learn, work and shop. People can also go “car lite” by carsharing or carpooling.
